The Attorney General is the state’s chief legal officer and is responsible for protecting the public interest of the state and its people. The job of the Attorney General is to: Advocate on behalf of all of the people of Illinois; Work with members of the General Assembly for new laws; Represent state government in litigation; and Litigate to ensure state and federal laws are followed and respected. The Attorney General provides services that cover a broad range of issues, reaching every corner of Illinois.

The Supreme Court is the state’s highest court; it also supervises and administers the state’s judicial system. The state is divided into five judicial districts, with three justices elected from the first district (Cook County) and one justice elected from each of the other four districts. Justices are elected in partisan elections for 10 years and may be retained in office for additional terms of 10 years. A chief justice is elected by the other justices for a term of three years and is responsible for protecting public interest.

The Department of Human Services is one of Illinois' largest agencies, with more than 13,000 employees. Illinois created IDHS in 1997, to provide our state's residents with streamlined access to integrated services, especially those who are striving to move from welfare to work and economic independence, and others who face multiple challenges to self-sufficiency. IDHS is proud of its diversity, efficiency, and the services that the agency and its community partners provide to Illinois citizens.

At ILAO, we believe in justice. For more than 20 years, Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) opened opportunities to justice so that people can resolve their problems, especially those with the least access to the legal system. We believe that, with the right knowledge and guidance, people can be their own best advocates. We mobilize people with plain-language, 24/7 tools so families can assert their legal rights. ILAO helps people, who are unable to find or afford attorneys, open opportunities for justice.

At the Cook County Clerk’s Office, we are here to serve. In addition to functioning as the Chief Election Authority for suburban Cook County, the Clerk's Office maintains birth, marriage, and death records; records and maintains deeds, property documents and business forms; assists property owners in redeeming delinquent taxes, and serves as the Clerk of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

The County Clerk is the Clerk of the DuPage County Board, Secretary of the Emergency Telephone System Board and the Secretary of the Liquor Control Commission. As such, the Clerk must attend all meetings, keep a record of the proceedings and attest to all ordinances and resolutions. The Clerk warrants the DuPage County Treasurer to pay all county bills and issues many different licenses.

In addition to functioning as the Chief Election Authority for suburban Kane County, the Clerk's Office maintains birth, marriage, and death records; records and maintains deeds, property documents and business forms; assists property owners in redeeming delinquent taxes, and serves as the Clerk of the Kane County Board.

At the Will County Clerk’s Office, we are here to serve. In addition to functioning as the Chief Election Authority for suburban Will County, the Clerk's Office maintains birth, marriage, and death records; records and maintains deeds, property documents and business forms; assists property owners in redeeming delinquent taxes, and serves as the Clerk of the Will County Board.
